So I've been debating as to whether or not I should post this "tip" for some time. I'll warn you that this tip borders on being just plain "cheap" which is typically not my style but I'll leave it up to all of you!
A friend of mine told me the other day that a mutual friend of ours has this little "trick" where he waits until mid-meal to order his soda (or for us mid-western folks, pop). He does this because 9 times out of 10, the waitstaff will forget to charge him for the drink as they are conditioned to put it on the bill at the beginning when they typically take drink orders.
Yes, this is being a bit cheap however any of you who have worked in the restaurant business know that fountain soda/pop is extremely cheap and that patrons are totally over-charged for it in comparison to what a restaurant pays for it.
So in light of that, this little tip gets mixed reviews in my book but in tough economic times you may want to give it a shot. Or.... just order tap water.
