WORKADAY TIP #123: Get Rid Of Junk Mail

I just learned about this really cool green program from one of my company's partner's, Tonic.  It's called MailStopper.

For $20 per year MailStopper will get rid of all of your junk mail.  In addition, they will plant trees helping to balance out your carbon footprint. 

In addition to saving the environment, this tip will also save you time by getting rid of the clutter and making it easier for you to get through your mail and get things done!

After over 100 tips, it can be tough to come up with new ideas that will make life easier.  Matt brought me home a book this weekend that had a ton of great tips that I am excited to put to work. 

 

10,001 Ways To Live Large On A Small Budget is a book by the writers of Wise Bread.  It's got anything  from 10 Beauty Products You Can Make at Home to 6 Steps To Elminating Your Debt Painlessly.  It offers ideas in small digestable nuggets which is perfect for people with short attention spans like me!  

I'd definitely recommend it or other books that can give you tips for doing more with less.

Unplug When You Can

5% of total energy is used on electronics that aren't being used but just plugged in!  Some easy things to unplug w/o a lot of hassle?  

• Toaster
• Coffeemaker
• Hair dryer
• Etc.

Do your part.  Go green!

WORKADAY TIP #111: Kill Sponge Germs

My friend Mark Simmons recommended cutting your sponges in half in order to avoid using a germ ridden sponge.   I think this is a good idea however I also found a bunch of articles that say microwaving your sponges for a minimum of 2 minutes will get rid of all germs. 

So you'll save money, stay healthy and eliminate waste!
