WORKADAY TIP #161: No Ask Before Deleting

So this is a little one but has definitely allowed me to remove a rather annoying step to managing my email on my i-phone. 

I just realized that in the i-phone settings, there is an option to turn off the "ask before deleting" option.  I-phone is automatically set-up to ask you if you are sure you want to delete even after you've hit the "delete" button.

I don't know about you but when I choose to delete something I am pretty sure I want to delete it and I don't need to be asked if I actually want to delete.  So, as a result, I have turned off the "ask before delete" button and now I can delete freely without interruption. 

Yes, it's the little things that make the difference :)

WORKADAY TIP #158: I-Phone As A Flashlight

So I-Phones clearly have a ton of different features.  You can send email, manage your contacts, update Facebook, take pictures, surf the web, check the weather and the list goes on.

But have you ever used your I-Phone as a flashlight?  The background light can be particularly handy when you are walking down a dark alley, in an garage or getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.  My favorite use is when I get up at 6am to head to the gym.  It is still dark so I use it as a flashlight to get dressed, find my gym bag, brush my teeth and so on.  This way I don't have to disturb anyone by turning on the light (which is everyone else who is sleeping comfortably in their warm bed while I get my a** kicked at boot camp).   

I suppose I am also saving energy too by not turning on the light - an added benefit!

Now if I can only get AT&T to fix the cell coverage so my actual phone worked somewhere beyond just my closet...

WORKADAY TIP #155: Go Everywhere Perfume

I got the coolest gift for Christmas this past year - Solid Perfume. 

I had never seen or heard of it before.  It's basically made out of wax and whatever fragrance you want.  The great thing about solid perfume is that it's compact, affordable and since it isn't a liquid you can carry it on the plane with you!  Plus, it's easy to use on the go, no need to worry about it spilling!

WORKADAY TIP #154: Clean Up i-Tunes

When I am working on projects at the office I often times listen to my ipod on shuffle.  Problem is I have a nano and I am running out of space to add new music. 

So now when I am listening to my ipod, I pull my i-Tunes library up on my computer screen.  When it shuffles to a song I don't like, I delete it.  This gives me a chance to add new music and make my music library better!

WORKADAY TIP #153: Managing Your Calendar

So I've been traveling A LOT for my new job.  What I've realized is trying to book, accept and just simply manage my meetings in outlook is next to impossible.  The time zones are what's really making it tough.  For example, I am in EST but trying to plan my day tomorrow in PST and I am like "WHA?????".

So a friend of mine at my new job taught me this little trick and has proven to be a life saver (not literally but definitely helpful).  When you are making changes to your outlook calendar and you are trying to work around time zones, just modify the time clock in the lower left hand of your screen (this assumes you are using Microsoft Office) to make sure your changes are accurate.  You can easily toggle back and forth between time zones by adjusting the clock and your calendar will adjust with it. 

It has already saved me time, energy and I am now insured that I am scheduling meetings for 10am rather than 7am PST.  Trust me, 7am meetings aren't a good way to make friends in the workplace!
